Why it's worth your time
The bill is essentially a roll call of the current Los Angeles soul and oldies revival — Thee Sinseers, The Altons, The McCharmlys — playing the Pacoima teenager whose records their whole scene descends from. It is staged as narration and archival visuals around the songs rather than a straight covers set, which is a harder thing to attempt and a more interesting one to watch.
