Why it's worth your time
Son Rompe Pera, from Naucalpan on the edge of Mexico City, play cumbia on marimba at punk tempo and volume, which sounds like a novelty until the second song. Bloco Obini open as an ensemble of women drumming and dancing in the Afro-Brazilian tradition. It is also the last night of a 40th season, and closing nights at this series tend to run hot.
